The Big Reveal!

If you missed todays filming of the BIG REVEAL (uh...this blog didn't keep many secrets though), No Worries! With my smuggled, not-so-concealed and trustworthy blackberry, I was able to take some photos which chronicled today's filming.

After a long morning of waiting for filming - production was delayed about 5 hours, LACES was given the Red Carpet Treatment. Students, teachers, parents, administrators and younger siblings enjoyed a walk through campus while being filmed as the School Pride Hosts welcomed the LACES Community to the New and Improved LACES.

Streets were blocked off today. LACES visitors had to shuttle in on school buses to the campus. Filming is getting set up to capture the awe and excitement of LACES students as they arrive to check out the New LACES.









First stop: Administration building. Ms. Vickers waits her turn to enter the newly renovated classrooms upstairs.

1st Floor of Adminsistration building. We were all waiting to be allowed outside to the quad area for the "first time." Standing room only excitement!

Many students ran out to greet the new quad. Host Jacob welcomes LACES community to the new outdoor area.

Overheard..."I can't believe this is LACES!"

"Yeah, but this is BETTER than LACES. It's like a NEW place."

Many had an opportunity to saunter through the quad for the first time. It is still quite impressive after several walk throughs.

There is still more work to be done at LACES. Finishing touches must be completed tomorrow. Good news! Co President Casey Garza scored about 200 cans of paint for the classrooms that didn't get painted. Guess what YOU'LL be doing this summer???

The exterior of LACES has made some significant changes. School colors are strategically painted on the campus buildings.

Auditorium gets a fresh coat of paint.











Welcome to the NEW LACES!










The quad area has probably gone through some of the most significant changes. It is incredible to see the quad turn into a resort-like garden with waterfalls, streams and ponds. Pacific Outdoor Living Lanscapers and other sponsors donated 100% of this project to LACES. Our students work so hard they've earned a space with such lush surroundings. Well deserved! Filming the release of Koi & Goldfish into one of the ponds.

Thank you to the volunteers who dimantled the old chairs then helped install each and every new chair in the auditorium. This has been quite a large scale job that has taken many volunteers and days to complete. Thank you all who spent their early morning hourse loading and unloading the old chairs into a truck for their new destination! It was reported to be a tough and laborious job!

Numerous classrooms have been cleaned out and painted with a fresh coat of color. Some classrooms have received a full make-over such as this one (Ms. Klimke's classroom). 9th grader Carlos Garcia doing some summer studying (Not!).

Mr. Merriman's computer lab also received an upscale renovation. Thank you volunteers for staging this room!

Meet Dennis Miller - community volunteer and LACES alumni - Class of 1983. Dennis has kept in contact with Ms. U throughout the years and heard about the School Pride experience. He and his wife spent the day volunteering to be a part of School Pride. It was a pleasure meeting Dennis and his excitement for LACES. He videotaped a message to the LACES students and families. His video will be uploaded shortly! Please check back for his message!
